Hey there, I'm Autumn. I am a multidisciplinary creative and artist. By day I am a UX/UI Designer and by night a photographer.

As a UX designer I am highly organized, practical, innovative and bring life to my projects. I love working on anything from fixing up awkward user flows, creating internal processes, or imagining the next wave of a user experience could be. I'm the person you can count on to have a positive attitude, adapt and bring the user into the conversation. I have a broad range of experience and am always looking to broaden my horizons.

As a photographer I find myself in awe, surprise and in love with whatever I am shooting. Whether that be landscapes, textures, people, or my dog - observing life through the lens of a camera has a way of making you appreciate its intricacies.

Observation is where I see those two aspects of my life intersecting - so much of UX is based on watching how humans interact with a product and I belive that my time spent behind the camera makes me a better designer.

I love it when kiddos show their personalities on shoots. I’m curious if anyone has funny photoshoot memories with their kids or from when they were a kid?

One of mine was picture day in first grade and I wore my favorite outfit and insisted my mom said I needed to wear the hat for the photo when she didn’t I just wanted to wear it. To this day it’s my favorite photo of me as a kid. Hats weren’t allowed at school so they had to make an exception 😆

It's the end of the term for my digital photography course 😢

I loved taking this course, learning new skills and hearing new perspectives on my work. I've always been hesitant to take classes on photography because there's so many ways to self teach. For me taking classes has been much more effective than trying to self teach - I like having the structure of a class to learn.

Some takeaways I've gotten this term are ... I'm drawn to editorial style photography, landscapes and textures. The editorial description is new to me but something I heard in a few of my critiques. I work with midtones which means I edit for a softer looking photo when shooting both color and black and white.

I'm taking a photography portfolio course next term and am hoping to start taking more photos professionally in the spring and fall. I'm slowly easing into taking photos again as I'm taking classes to learn more polish and figuring out work.

Having fun playing with our new camera 😍

I hadn't been here in 5 years until this afternoon. I love how spending time away from a place can make it feel like the first time all over. I was running around all giddy and in awe like holy cow THIS IS AWESOME! This was one of those weekends where I feel overwhelmed by how beautiful and cool where we live is.

The last time I was here I came alone during the COVID lockdown and I remember being lonely. I love that I'm never alone anymore and any adventure I go on I have my loving silly husband and/or my goober fluffy dog.

It's amazing how life can change so much. A place that felt lonely to me once now feels so fulfilling and satisfying. Thank goodness for what time can do ❤️ Overflowing with love lately

Learning how to do double exposures. I did this with some film scans that I layered on top of one anther then inverted the subject to make it stand out.

The ones I edited are first followed by the photos I layered.

Makes the photos have that extra dreamy feel 🧟‍♀️

I'm learning photoshop in my digital photography course and played around with the colors in this photo a lot.

I've been on a film kick the last few years and didn't think I'd like digital. However - there is something great about being able to remove things from a picture and use editing to help the picture convey a mood.

I'm developing my style with editing in photoshop and understanding more of the type of photography I like to do.

It's great to have a teacher to help move through that process and to have a space that surfaces different challenges I wouldn't do on my own.

We took these photos for Dasha’s yoga website after she completed her trauma informed yoga course and was leaning into her movement practice. Dasha is also an amazing harp player, dancer and lovely spirit to have around.

I love how you can feel how bubbly yet deeply creative she is in these photos. Much love to you Dasha!!! ❣️🌟❣️

Little pockets of happiness 😍🥰 — from my days running socials at a bakery.

Living out here in Hood River, we’re spoiled with so much incredible fruit! This summer I’ve been baking up all kinds of crisps with berries, stone fruits, and herbs. They’re so easy and fun to throw together — especially when the fruit’s about to go bad 😬🫣

Working at the bakery taught me just how creative and scientific baking really is. So much skill goes into crafting these sweet treats. I loved photographing them and giving these little works of art their moment to shine. They say pretty food tastes better… and I believe it.

Maybe one of these days I’ll try my hand at making my own hand pies, but for now I’m just happily reminiscing about these juicy beauts.

In honor of Zelda girl ❤️🐾

We took these 5 years ago 😱

We got Zelda when I was 18 and throughout the last 12 years of her being in our lives I’ve gone through many phases and there are few personalities that have been consistent throughout my ebbs and flows. Zelda especially has always been there to give me tons of love, take a walk with me, sit with me as I got lost and just be the best companion.

I knew this day would come but it is hard to see her go.

This will forever go down as one of my favorite shoots … ever

Sasha is one of my favorite people to collaborate with. From running errands, making goals or working out. She leaves you feeling energized.

Sasha is someone who continually brings an honest perspective to the table. Sasha has at many moments over the last few years been a teacher to me and has shown me with grace ways of approaching mindset, life and work in a new way.

It is rare to meet someone greets all life with such kindness, nourishment and love. She moves with intention and freedom in how she speaks and how she works.

I am lucky to have this woman as a friend and creative collaborator.

I listened to a podcast today that shared how a business is ran by it’s values just as much as its metrics. How it’s not beauty that sells magazines. It’s influence, purpose and the conversation that someone brings to the table.

Lately, I feel like I am being shown how to be slow, honest and selfish.

Slow in my movements - not going from one place to the next hastily.

Honest - with how I feel, what I want and what I’m inviting to influence my decisions.

Selfish - with how I spend my time, what I decide I value and how I want to direct my life.

I felt a Funeral, in my Brain,

I miss my life as feeling free.
Design school was 150% worth it but I cannot wait to graduate in a month 🤪

I have so many photo ideas I want to try and I’ve had yoga flows goin through my head for months I want to actually teach and I wanna take my personal training test finally lol ( 1 year later ... 🥸 derp)

Not having free time made me feel like I’m lazy or not focused enough but I can’t be creative if I don’t relax. Are other people like that? Is that science? I think it is. ... obviously I’m a science person.

I’m refreshing my memory on non-attachment or Aparigraha as fall approaches and life is being really shifty.

The school of life exists to allow us to experience and learn from every aspect of our being, the light and the dark, and to truly live we must not push away the things we don’t want to feel, but allow them to happen, and know that this too shall pass. When we let the moment be what it is without either trying to cling to it, or to push it away, we can really say we’re living in that moment, allowing things to come and go, without the need to possess any of it.”

Ways Aparigraha is helping me in a practical way
- Feeling less attached to social outings (FOMO)
- Reminding myself that my yoga practice is about connecting to myself and being present
-Not worrying so much about how I’m being perceived by others
-Selling things that I don’t use and taking the time to notice that I have a lot of things I don’t need, being grateful that I’ve been provided those things.
-Not buying so many clothes and saving money
-Eating out less and eating slower
-Being less concerned about what “might” happen and moving forward in the present.
-Feeling more free to do what I love and being less worried about the outcome
-Forgiving others

Meditation: As you exhale imagine thoughts turning into the breath and rolling out your nose falling off your lip and sinking to the ground below you.

Imagine that with the inhale the ground beneath you is helping you grow tall

With everything you let go of, you grow taller, stronger and more present.

Whenever I get close to being able to do my left split I have a really emotional reaction.

When I was young and in dance I started cheating on my left side to make my movements look bigger.

I went through a lot of hard stuff as a kid and sometimes I feel like all of the pain I was feeling then got stored within that injury.

The other night I was full on sobbing for hours after doing some mayofacial work and yoga in my left hip.

One of the most profound benefits I’ve gotten from yoga is not to fear emotional responses and to welcome them.

I am working on learning more of the science behind these types of experiences and being able to put it into words when I teach or do privates.

Bodies and humans are really complex.

I honestly feel like an emotional yoga practice does more for me mentally, physically, emotionaly and spiritually than anything else in the world.

“When fascia is gently stretched into a new shape, you release the chronic tension lodged in the tissues, making it easier to change the nervous and even the circulatory systems. All of this can lead to a wonderful emotional unfolding.

There are several ways to do this. But generally, sustained stretches like those used in yoga, and certain massage techniques give the muscles a chance to calm down.

You see, the muscles must relax before the fascia can begin to stretch and release. Once they do, there will be profound change within the body and mind. That’s what the people who developed yoga recognized, that in order to change the person you have to change the body.”

Yoga break 🤪
I find myself doing this flow or some version of it almost everyday. This in realtime was like 7 minutes.
Holding in Warrior 3 has been really great for building my core stability and connecting that with alignment of my pelvis.
I have tight muscles on the outside of my left glute specifically and that causes my hips to do wonky things.
Something I’ve been focusing on in Warrior 3 is engaging my inner thighs, following that engagement up through drawing in my low belly and using my core to keep my hips square. Then from there working on straightening my legs and finding more length in my spine.

Would my shadow leave a mark?
If I could live my whole life only in the dark
Would the light have given me eyes because what would there be to see?
Would the shapes my shadow makes be reflections of the spaces my feet try to avoid?

It is my shadow inflated with gas.
Slightly floating away but still near ... an odd relationship here
Close yet far, and unable to communicate.
Hmm ... I’d like to hear the story of the life my shadow lives
Is it past or is it present?
With time if stand still will my shadow still be there?
